The Cornells were in Concert Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Victory Tabernacle Family Worship Center--Mike and Darla Cornell have served in many churches as worship leaders, musicians; they have collectively been in music ministry for nearly 50 years. Most recently God has called them to step into a full time ministry of their own and step down from their positions as associate and music Pastors at Liberty Christian Center in Bakersfield, CA where they had served for the past 7 years.
Mike and Darla have been immersed in ministry from an early age. As young children they traveled and sang with their respective family ministries in churches around the United States and Hawaii. In addition they have developed over the last 21 years, their own ministry as music evangelist. God has blessed them with musical ability. At events and services Mike incorporates the use of guitar and mandolin on select songs. This ministry has taken them to many places but most notably to the Island of Antigua, West Indies and then to South Africa for the last 8 years. Mike and Darla realize that the ministry they have been entrusted with is not about accolades and notoriety, but it’s about changing lives and ministering to the brokenness of people in this world. However they have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to be in concert with some of the very best in Southern Gospel Music, such as Legacy Five, Palmetto State Quartet, Lisa Daggs, The Martins, and Larry Ford, (all from the Gaither Homecoming video series), The Gaithers, The Hoppers, and many more. In 1999 they were fortunate enough to win 1st place at the Great Western Quartet Convention. in Fresno California and then win again at the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, KY. talent show case. When not out ministering in churches throughout the United States and Africa, you will find them actively involved in their home church.

Right Side Up Stories/Meet Melea Brock....Through stories I've written, folktales of old and true-life stories, I dip down into the Truth of life for my listeners. I confront, in a non-threatening way, relationships, beauty, worry, our gifts and talents, forgiveness, healing, the foolishness of life, God's constant presence. Through storytelling, I offer the listener a face-to-face, ear-to-ear, heart-to-heart opportunity to be still and hear what needs to be heard.
I began storytelling in 1982 while working as an assistant dean at a small Christian college in California. I found that if I had a story when I taught and it specifically related to the teaching, a disinterested student could become a listener and a learner in that moment. I can remember my first story's telling, “The King Who Waits,” as if it were yesterday. Many students crammed into a lobby area of a dorm and listened to a very personal first-person story about a God—a God who wanted them, loved them, and lavishly prepared a place to be with them and was waiting for them. Weeks later, several students shared their thoughts on the story with me and of how they now had a place where they met God every day. That amazed me and I discovered one of the values of storytelling—shelf life. Stories, like good friends, hang around.

Who Are the Real Heroes of Assist International? They are the volunteers, donors, benefactors, hospital administrators, nurses, rotarians, carpenters, plumbers, teachers, pastors, missionaries, entrepeneurs.... in other words, you.
Assist International is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization started by Bob and Charlene Pagett in 1990. For the past 17 years, the Pagetts have helped guide A.I. into something truly remarkable: a 4-star charity that operates in 57 countries (and counting), while taking dead aim at the most serious problems in the world.
"We started Assist knowing that thousands of people would directly partner with us to make a big difference in the world," said Bob Pagett. "This organization belongs completely to our volunteers and donors -- it's up to us to step up to the plate when governments fail and infrastructure breaks down. We have been blessed beyond measure to have seen millions of disadvantaged people receive medical care, education, job training, shelter, food and clothing because of our donors," Pagett said.
The organization currently has a staff of ten and scores of volunteers. We invite you to read these profiles on our employees -- feel free to contact any of us to ask a question (or even just to pray with us).
